2011 was some year for us, how about you? First off we lost my Mom on Valentine’s Day this year. As I detailed it quite a bit in an earlier blog, I’ll just say that losing a parent is something that never quite leaves you alone. We lost Jacki’s Uncle Bunk last year as well. Bunk was a great man who knew how to enjoy life. They both will be greatly missed.
This year was a busy one for writing. FRIEND finally saw print. I know it was “Coming Soon” forever on this site. A demon come to flesh story that is without a doubt my most brutal tale to date. It’s been doing well on Amazon.com as well as signed copies here on the site. PURGATORY JUNCTION, the screenplay I wrote sometime back, has found a new life as a published novella. I wrote it as a book for my father, who taught me to love westerns, but I must say I am pleasantly surprised at how well it is doing. Slide on over to AMAZON to see the reviews it has received. If you are an e-book reader, I’m happy to report that besides Kindle, all my work is being published on Smashwords in all reader formats. You can find the first two here SMASHWORDS FRANKLIN E. WALES
Most importantly, to me at least, Jacki has released her first book, JACK AND GRACE: A LOVE STORY. The book is a look back at her parent’s true tale of love. Readers have emailed her to tell how it touched them and brought tears to their eyes. You can find her book on Amazon here JACK AND GRACE A LOVE STORY It’s available in both hardcopy and Kindle. Give it a read, you’ll be glad you did.
The zombie book, DEADHEADS: EVOLUTION was released on New Year’s
Day at 12:10 am, so it has to be one of the first horror novels published this year. Facebook friends received the first notifications. This novel features some kickass interior artwork by one of my favorite artists, Joseph “Jody” Adams. You won’t want to miss this one. It was my most requested unreleased book to date. In fact I received payment for a few copies in advance of its actual release. The book has already been generating some nice reviews on AMAZON
I heard from a Producer in Miami that he was already trying to put a movie deal together for DEADHEADS, but if you’ve been following me awhile, you know that I take those things one day at a time. If it does come to pass, I will be one happy writer!
All signed books are now being offered at a lower price on the SIGNED BOOK page.
My latest completed work, EATON FALLS, is finally done and now making its way across the desks of a number of publishers. This werewolf tale set in my hometown area of New Hampshire is perhaps my most commercial work to date.
Given the success of the western, I am thinking about a six book miniseries along the lines of King’s GREEN MILE featuring a gunslinger werewolf in the old west. Right now the series is titled DRAMOS: VAMPIRE SLAYER. The Character of Dramos will appear in a short I have placed in an as yet untitled Horror Western Anthology to be released in 2012 edited by Eric S Brown. Eric and I have been talking of working together for a few years and it looks like 2012 will be the one. We have decided to work on a Horror Western together featuring my werewolf, Dramos and Eric’s Old West werewolf, Zed. If the project takes off my series will follow.
I hope that 2012 brings us all better times. You take care of you and yours and I’ll see you back here real soon.
